Backlit mechanical keyboard MG75S HE with blue LED lighting.

Monsgeek MG75S HE review

I have used a dozen of hall effect keyboards, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Monsgeek MG75S HE. Don’t let the low price tag fool you – this keyboard has of features and the performance is really good. Let’s break it down.

Is this $99 rapid trigger keyboard any good?

Magnetic switches are still a relatively new technology in keyboards, and often come with a premium price tag. The MG75S HE throws that expectation out the window. While I’ve used some pricier magnetic keyboards, the Kailh Sakura Pink switches in this one hold their own. They offer that smooth, satisfying keystroke I crave, with a light actuation force that makes typing a breeze. And you can actually adjust the actuation distance on each key..

This keyboard isn’t just about the switches, though. It’s a customization playground! The “Rapid Trigger” mode is a gamer’s dream, allowing you to squeeze even faster response times out of your keystrokes. The “Dynamic Keystrokes” feature takes things a step further, letting you program a single key to perform different actions depending on the press depth. Imagine opening a program with a light tap and activating a complex macro with a deeper press – the possibilities are endless!

The MG75S HE might not have a fancy metal frame, but the ABS plastic build feels surprisingly sturdy. The aluminum plate underneath the keys adds a nice touch of weight and solidity. Plus, the included dampening foam does a great job of keeping noise levels down.

There are a couple of things to consider, though. The switches aren’t hot-swappable, so you’re stuck with the Kailh Pinks if you decide you want to try something different down the line. Also, the keycaps are ABS plastic, which can get a bit shiny over time. While not a dealbreaker, some folks might prefer the extra durability of PBT keycaps.

If you’re looking for a feature-rich keyboard with magnetic switches without emptying your wallet, the MG75S HE is a fantastic option. The smooth keystrokes, extensive customization options, and surprisingly good build quality make it a real contender in the magnetic keyboard arena.
